Sri Amma and Bhagavan have long felt the suffering of humanity and since childhood have only focused on how to liberate humans from their suffering. What they discovered was that, the only solution to human suffering was enlightenment. The essence of the Oneness Teachings explains that to begin the path towards awakening, the first step is "to start from where we are, not from where we want to be". Failing to realize this, people often follow high flying ideals of what it means to be spiritual, and lose touch with themselves as they naturally are.
The Oneness Teachings, teach to simply be yourself, and that that it is enough to begin the path of awakening. It is in the space of non-manipulation and healthy acceptance of ourselves as we are and reality as it is, that we begin to truly experience genuine freedom. The human obsession with control and the need to "only let good things happen" has kept us out of reality and imprisoned in a continual struggle against the natural ebb and flow of life. Truthfully, life is a rich matrix of experience, offering a whole spectrum of human experience and to truly appreciate the diversity of life is to open to all that it is offering, be it pleasure or pain giving, as ultimately, each experience offers its own learning and every learning has its place.
The Oneness Teachings urge humans to really move forward and have the courage to really experience life and our selves in our naturally arising states. It is in this energy of openness and acceptance that grace can touch our lives most easily, and move us as it has always intended, towards our destiny as awakened beings. Paradoxically, it is the acceptance of things as they are, that brings about change of things as they are, the fastest.
